Staff at Loyalhanna Senior Suites and Personal Care have been working feverishly to keep residents
During the day and evening, beverages are offered; everything from flavored water, to lemonade, and
fruit flavored teas. Popsicles were popular during the dog days of summer, in July and August.
Naturally, liquids are encouraged at meal times.
Residents are educated on the importance of being hydrated and given the hydration skin test: Pinch
the skin on the back of your hand and pull it upwards. Your skin should snap back rapidly. If your
skin maintains its pinched shape for a few seconds and drops slowly, you may be dehydrated.
More Signs You’re Dehydrated:
- Dry mouth
- Feeling lightheaded or dizzy
We have had success with a majority of our residents; with one on one education, for those that
needed a better understanding on the importance of hydration.
